A Validator's True Name
In Questions To Ask Your Cosigners, I showed you how to use threshold custody with a decentralized key generation ceremony (DKG) to help keep your funds safe on Penumbra. That post was published before Starling Cybernetics performed our own DKG ceremony: today, I am pleased to announce that the Starling Cybernetics DKG ceremony is complete.
With this, Starling Cybernetics is now operationally and cryptographically ready for Penumbra to launch.1 When it does, we will be ready to sign its very first blocks.
Most saliently for our future delegators, Starling Staking now has a permanent identity key. On Penumbra, an identity key is the unique handle of a validator: it is our true name. From today, the true name of Starling Staking is this key:
penumbravalid1gjdvn0u85rgldqk5adfexn6n4y8d2m3tfla54sc4gu95xwpzssxsjutk7u
To delegate to Starling Staking (or any other validator), you can use the Prax Wallet browser extension or the command line wallet pcli
. For more information, see our quick guide about how to stake on Penumbra.
That's all for now!
The wind is picking up: it's almost time to take flight.
